Tell Me What You Think, Part I

I'm thinking about coming out on Facebook.

Maybe that sounds kind of cheesy to some of you, but that would cover coming out to a lot of people in one, rip-the-band-aid-off, quick motion.

I know there are some of you who have done that, so if you'd like to let me know what your thoughts are about it, I'd appreciate it. Pros? Cons? Would you do it differently if you could?

I'm feeling like it's something I want to do. Open this closet and let me out. I'm done hiding. I want to breathe.

Not sure if your current on my blog or not, but I just did this one week ago. Everyone who was not immediate family has been extremely supportive. Mission companions, old friends, and extended family. Some of these people I never expected to hear from or receive any form of support from.

I think the announcement really surprised my sibblings, despite the fact that I have been trying to drop hints all over the place for the last six months. I have yet to hear back from grandparents or from my brother, so no idea what is going on there. Overall it has been a very positive experience.

Take a look on facebook if you want. If you have other questions I'd be more than happy to to chat.

It is a big step, think about it for a week and then decide

I think you should find a link to the most edgy, scary-looking group of people you can find and write a comment about how you've found your niche and have decided to join their cult and worship Satan and eat people, that sort of thing. Then just finish it by saying, "Just kidding. I'm only gay."

That's funny, Original! Love it. My take is that Facebook is no big deal. It will be easier for people to react, because you're not standing in front of them. They can digest and react, or choose not to react at all. Just change your profile to "interested in women" and see what happens...;)

Apparently there were quite a few paying attention! Any stories come out of this experiment?
